There once was a man named Brown
    Who ran the economy down,

    He told naught but lies

    Which is why we despise

That dull jowly "North British" clown.

Do you think the speech writers are doing it on purpose? Putting in readily debunkably anecdotes, pie in the sky policies and laborious jokes to see just how stupid the man is.

I reckon they've been doing it for more than a decade and still haven't been found out.

BBCs latest FoI request shows ethnic minority groups are more likely to be stopped, searched and fingerprinted on the new portable police gizmo.

Dispraportionate representation is the infferance of the BBC investigation.

But I thought the BBC was into dispraportional representation when employing actors and presenters.Judging by the rich mix of faces I see on the box.

    Make your fucking mind up.

Gordon Brown has presided over Labour’s economic strategy for a decade and a half. The Labour party wilfully followed and implemented Gordon Brown’s Economic Plan.

We now see Gordon Brown and Labour trying to gain political capital through stripping Fred Goodwin of his Pension. Whilst in my opinion the Goodwin Pension should be partially stripped back to the time when he (Goodwin) made reckless decisions as CEO of RBS, supported by a compliant board of directors (I hope they are not ‘due’ bumper Pensions as well). I do think this opens up an interesting Political point!

If Brown is advocating a removal of Fred Goodwin’s pension for taking ‘reckless decisions’ and forcing the banking group into failure and the tax payer picking up the tab. Why does Brown not have his Pension removed for doing a ‘Fred Goodwin’ on the whole economy? It was Brown’s mismanagement of the economy, its regulatory structure and arrogantly implementing policy changes that has caused hardship and savage economic contraction.

Maybe Gordon Brown should have his Pension ‘Shredded’ as he seems to have equalled Fred in his Financial Management skills.
  • Anonymous · 10 months ago
Does Oxford's scientific achievement have anything to do with the undergraduate selection process that Brown was happy to denounce for populist reasons just a few years ago?
  • Anonymous · 10 months ago
Telegraph has McBroon quote from Radio Oxford today:

'We set up the Financial Services Authority to, you know before we came into power there was a sort of self regulatory system so you know they more or less regulated themselves. We brought in a statutory regulatory system, supervisory system, but of course we couldn't know exactly what was going on in every individual bank and it's only in the last few days to be honest that what has happened over this pension has come to light...'

    Completely mad person.

Seriously though, has anyone yet started planning the mother of all parties for when the one-eyed-son-of-the-bitch-of-the-manse is finally shaken off our backs? Next May, perhaps? By then there will likely be plenty of scorched earth to dance on. Sorry, can't host because I'm going to be rat-arsed on that fecund night of the rebirth of hope. Here's to shouting "He's GONE, he's G O N E, the curse is lifted. Let there be music, dancing, celebration, repatriation'. And "Over to you, Dave!" Oh dear.

Audit Commission Chief Warns of "Armageddon of Debt"
    Iain Dale 12:20 PM

The chief executive of the Audi Commission, Steve Bundred, has an article in today's Times. I can already hear you yawning. Well you shouldn't be. Bearing in mind he is an independent, apolitical public figure, he couldn't be more damning about the government's handling of the economy if he tried. Take this excerpt...

Most economists and ministers now believe that a prudent fiscal policy means not allowing public sector debt to exceed 40 per cent of GDP. But the Government is under no obligation to manage the public finances with this target in mind. Indeed, Britain is not even bound by the 60 per cent limit in the Maastricht treaty, as Margaret Thatcher managed to win an opt-out from the relevant article.

This is just as well, given what has happened since last year. With the debts of the nationalised and part-nationalised banks now on the public sector balance sheet, the ratio of public sector debt to GDP in the UK exceeds that of Italy and Japan. And it is set to grow much higher. On the basis of the planned levels of borrowing, it could exceed 65 per cent of GDP in 2010-11.

And at that scale of indebtedness, the Armageddon scenario most feared by the Treasury - that there will be insufficient lenders to match the planned level of borrowing - begins to look a distinct possibility.

That is why tax increases and spending cuts are inevitable immediately after the election, assuming that there are signs of economic recovery by then - and why any managers of a public service who are not planning now on the basis that they will have substantially less money to spend in two years time are living in cloud-cuckoo-land.

Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling will be furious at Bundred. But it goes to show just how much government is breaking down when a senior public servant feels free to write in these terms. He would never have dared do so when Brown was at the peak of his political powers.
  • AWavey · 9 months ago
the government really ought to provide one of those special advice booklets about what to do in case of these suprise visits by the pm.

I dont rate Ipswich's chances anymore.

This is somewhat off message but people should know about it. I am a long term South East Asia expat and my first assignment was in Malaysia. I registered with the British High Commission website and received their monthly updates. I was quite surprised the other day to receive an email from the FCO extolling the virtues of the London Summit starting 2 April. They had obtained my email address from the Malaysian BHC connection. The first part of their email was a puff for "The Road to the London Summit", G. Brown's puff for the "Grand Bargain". Surelythe FCO are completely out of order in using their email address databases in this way?

Independent and apolitical my arse! Bundred's a Labour party placeman, a former playmate of Arthur Scargill, an ex GLC Councillor, who has close connections to the Mills Bros and Jowell, and well, well dodgy. During his time working for corrupt looney left Council's like Hackney and Camden, Bundred left a trail of sleaze brutally covering up for corrupt Labour councillors and officials by harassing and sacking anyone who had the temerity to question their shady doings, creating a climate of fear. There's even a damning EU fraud report- quietly shelved- that fixes Bundred's involvement in the rifling of hundreds of thousands of pounds in EU funds, via pals in Camden Council, to a dodgy organisation called the Migrant Training Company. And lets not mention the Provisionals..ah the folly of youth! It's about time someone joined the dots on this Bundred guy, who uses his role in the Audit Commission to devise measures designed to ensure Labour Council's don't look as shit as we all know they are.Bundred was appointed to the Commission by Jowell's brother in law, the then Chairman (Cllr)John Mills to continue their Camden Council double act. Foxes in charge of the chicken coop. You clearly don't read back issues of Private Eye, but even so they only got the tip of iceberg about this Labour Party sleazball.
