Quite agree. But I think we all know that the Electoral Commission wouldn't dream of crossing their NuLab masters. What we need when the Tories inevitably get in is a complete dopoliticisation of all public bodies. But will this happen? Will it fuck.

Didn't think that donors were able to use agents (whether companies or individuals) in order to make political donations. The tax avoidance mechanism i.e putting capital into a company as capital in order for it to make the donation - would suggest that the company is acting as an agent - especially if the company had no other activities. Since Bearwood's trading activity is listed as being a merger broker - it should be a fairly easy matter for it to identify its involvement in any mergers over the past few years - shouldn't it??

No business or trade union (and certainly not the public via taxes) should be able to donate to political parties - only individual UK citizens.
This would mean that the smaller parties are not at a disadvantage; and it would make the big 3 work harder to keep members.

Guido,
Let us get one fact established.
This country is already in the debt of Lord Ashcroft. Just look at CRIMESTOPPERS, a most excellent Charity started with the money and inspiration of Lord Ashcroft. This Charity has brought to justice many thousands of criminals and for that alone we should all be praising the man and not kicking him!
What, pray, has John Mann MP ever achieved for his fellow man? Or any of this shoddy labour dictatorship?
I do agree that Lord Ashcroft- on this issue- could pull the rug from under the Electoral Commission-(which has proved to be a toothless quango when you look at all the evidence of postal vote fraud and nothing has changed!)
But, perhaps, as the shrewd man is is, he is probably waiting to make Labour look absolutely foolish.

There is supposed to be a 'new broom' in charge of the Electoral Commission. This is her first big investigation and she will want to seem a model of rectitude; painstaking and thorough. If the Conservatives don't have their ducks in a row then they could be in trouble. As for ZaNuLabour; they are in the clear. Their stuff is all in the past, under the old EC Leader - and by leaving questions over ZaNuLabour's funding, the new EC head makes him look bad and herself shine in comparison. It's all politics, meanwhile Labour can continue to launder taxpayers money through the unions to support the party.

Van firm LDV seeks government aid
Thousands of supplier jobs are at risk said parent firm Gaz Struggling van-maker LDV has asked the government for up to £30m in loans to help secure its future and save jobs.
The firm, which employs 900 people in Birmingham, has seen sales fall after suspending production in December.
Russian parent firm Gaz said LDV was "literally running out of cash", and unable to cover its costs, putting thousands of supplier jobs at risk.
Erik Eberhardson, chairman of Russian parent company Gaz, told the BBC: "Unfortunately since the company is not producing, it is not making enough revenue to cover its costs and the company is literally running out of cash right as we speak."
"It's 850 jobs in the plant, 1,200 jobs in the dealer network and about 4,000 jobs in the supplier industry which are at risk".
He added: "We need £20-30m, depending on how we structure it," he added.

The way Bearwood Corporate Services Ltd works is that shares are issued at a massive premium (£4,678,000 in the 2006 accounts, when I last looked) and this, rather than trading profits, enables the company to donate to Conservative party. The fawning & celebratory language concerning a Mr Binyan Mohammed is truly sickening.
He is Ethiopian. He came to Great Britain as an asylum seeker. Having secured his benefits & housing he then left the UK to join the Jihad against British troops in Afghanistan.
Why are we falling all over ourselves to give this terrorist a home? With benefits? And a security bill in the tens of thousands every year to watch him?
Allowing this terrorist back into Britain puts my famnily at risk. Allowing this man into Britian puts my country at risk.
Worse stuill his arrival will drive yet more British citizens into the BNP.
The left wing in our country are suicidal - giving this scumbag a home is insulting to every taxpaying British soldier & citizen.
And to cap it all not once has the BBC even asked what this "British resident asylum seeker" was doing on the battlefields of Afghanistan.
Not once.
He could have killed British troops.
And the BBC wonders why British Armed Forces to a man & woman despise them?
Truly sickening.

Complete with willing 'Footsoldiers' due to the recession.
That is according to supt David Hartshorn of the Met police.
So members of the public who may wish to demonstrate, bear in mind what Superintendant Hartshorn already thinks of you.
I have no problem with your average lazy cop but when you get to superintendant or above you are talking about a fast tracked promotion chasing cunt, well versed in political dogma.
'Euro MPs' expenses and pensions are so lavish that they can earn as much as £1m (1.13m euros) on top of their salaries over their five-year term in parliament, a British campaign group says.
The TaxPayers' Alliance (TPA) said its research also showed that British MEPs would get a 47% increase in their take-home pay after June's European elections...'
